SOTD: Parfumerie Generale Papyrus de Ciane

I love Parfumerie Generale. I love "green" perfumes. So I was excited when Parfumerie Generale came out with Papyrus de Ciane, a green with jasmine and galbanum and vetiver and so on. I'm eager to write up a proper review.

The problem is, I can't smell it today.

Now, I don't mean that I can't smell anything, the way that I can't smell anything with some of the l'Artisans. When I first sprayed on Papyrus de Ciane, there was a modest amount of scent, with a very distinct "top notes" fizzy vibe. I waited eagerly for the middle and base. And then, even with four sprays, the whole thing just vanished.

Hmph.

Review Roundup: Is here.

  1. Oh, no-- you're kidding!! I got so excited when I saw your headline, because I *love* PdC-- I didn't make my way through the entire PG line, but I will say, there's some original stuff there!

Now I kick myself that I didn't buy a bottle of it when I had the chance. I'm not a huge green fan in the way that I know you are, but PdC has this arid, almost dusty wood note that's like the dry wood sensation of being in a sauna. (As I remember it from my one enraptured sniff months ago... Why, why did I not buy...?)

    Maybe try again tomorrow?

  2. LCN! Howdy!

It is dismaying. :( I'm hoping that my nose is just being temporarily recalcitrant.

    Could you still buy? Onlineishly?

  3. Bizarro! This one lasted on me most of the day, and I didn't enjoy a minute of it, sadly. Too spiky and resinous. But fair play to PdG - they always come up with novel things, whether they are my cup of tea or not. And Bois Naufrage was lovely, and I would like to get my hands on a sample.

  4. Hey, flittersniffer! Yes, everything they do is worth trying, whether you end up liking it or not. And, ooh. Bois Naufrage had fallen off my radar; think you for reminding me of it.

  6. Yo! Glad to see you, Frida! It's weird, it's just weird. I do have a fragrance (Navegar) that utterly vanishes on me at some times, and is a nice solid cedar fog at other times. So I have Hopes that I'll be able to smell it someday in some other weather or condition of my nose.
