SOTD: Serge Lutens Un Lys, and uncertainty

Well, this is slightly worrying. Do you remember how I said that Tubereuse Couture is better on the back of my neck - thus, effectively, at a distance - than sniffed right on my skin? Un Lys appears to be the opposite.

I sprayed it on the back of my neck, and nowhere else, before going out for the day. And after a lovely few minutes, it settled into a fairly generic "perfumey" lily. The lovely penuche-like graininess that I usually smell was entirely absent.

Worrying. Less worrying than it would be if I'd already bought a bottle, but in my mind I'd already put it in the bottle queue. It was just waiting for budgeting. What to do?

Review Roundup: Is here.

Oh, test again before deciding... could it be a weather issue?

I love Un Lys in the warmer weather, without question. It's super sexy on me, and bright and happy. Do Not Purchase! Enjoy what you've got, when you're ready to sample again, and if you drain your sample/decant and need more, put it back on the list!

Hmmm. Thanks, Mals, it could be weather. It was cold when I loved it, and it was much, much warmer yesterday. Yay! If it's just a winter scent, that would be fine.

Yeah, lovethescents, sadly I guess I'd better wait. My sample's good for two or three more wearings; I'll make sure that at least two of them are in cold weather, and if I love it then, I'll re-evaluate.

Oh, and hey. I'm using a different, not-totally-unscented shampoo. For a back-of-the-neck test, that's probably a huge factor. I'll go pay the gazillion dollars for the totally unscented before I try again. (_Why_ do unscented products cost so much more? Do they have to use different, unstinky, more expensive stuff for the shampoo itself so that it doesn't need scenting?)

Could someone in the row behind you at the cinema conceivably have grazed you with candy floss or other smearable confectionery item?

Hee. :) It's always possible. Or I could have spent too much time marinating in the movie-popcorn fog.
