SOTD: Bois 1920 Sushi Imperiale

On Wednesday, we had a Christmas party. I believe that there was a moment when we had twenty-five people in our house. We watched It's A Wonderful Life, and our friend Karen made a cake of supreme amazingness--Himself will be presenting it properly in his blog, and I'll be linking there. (And here's the link!)

As a lifetime loner, a painfully shy person, a person who as a child rationalized that friends were a meaningless fiction rather like that huge Brady house, this is mindboggling. It's not brand new--we've been welcoming people to our home for a few years now. But I'm still stunned every time, still announcing, when folks have gone, "We had a party!"

I wore Sushi Imperiale, of course; it's the perfume with the the proper glittering tapdancing sparkle for the occasion. Thank you so much, everyone, for coming, and I wish that we could have had all you folks in blog land with us as well.

Review Roundup: Is here.

  1. Good for you Chickenfreak. As a rather reserved person myself, I know how difficult this sort of thing can be be. I've noticed that you enjoy Sushi Imperiale a lot. I've only tried it once and recall liking it a lot. Perhaps I should sample again.

  2. I, too, have noticed you mentioning Sushi Imperiale quite often. Having sampled it multiple times, I must say it's lovely, but I wouldn't necessarily associate it with Christmas. Must try again.

Like you, I am rather shy (even though my work requires me to be extroverted) so my private time is precious to me. It is in solitude that I regenerate from the world. Sounds like you did a great job entertaining and that your guests had a lovely time.

    Well done, fellow shy one!

  3. Congrats on a successful party! The thought of going to a party hosted by someone else makes me very anxious, and hosting one would take me over the edge! Somehow I have managed to attend two holiday parties this month without losing it ;)

Sushi Imperiale sounds like such a lovely scent. I've heard nothing but good things about it. Just another one to add to my list! Perhaps it can soothe my pre-party jitters.

  4. Hey, Michael! Thanks!

Yes, Sushi Imperiale is glorious. Though I am forced to admit that it's one of the scents that I love but can't explain why I love it. If forced, all I can burble is, "Well, it's gingery. And sparkly!" Which is even weaker when you consider that I don't like ginger.

It's just love at first sniff with me, unexplainable.

  5. Yo, Josephine! Yes, I remember that some people think of it as gingery soda, a summer vibe, rather than the gingery-sparks-on-ice winter vibe that I get.

Yes, I also need that quiet time; I can almost feel my mental and emotional fuel getting lower and lower without it. But I'm startled and delighted to realize that, increasingly, as long as I get enough of that fuel, time with friends also feeds me, just in a different way that's harder to describe because it's still relatively new.

  6. Hey, JoanElaine! Come to think of it, I'm more relaxed at our own parties than at others. I think that all that hosting stuff, pressing wine and cookies on people and spiriting away coats, gives me the illusion that I know what I'm doing and avoids most of those Standing Still And Smiling Weakly moments.

  7. Success! :)
I just tried Sushi Imperiale for the 1st time this week. Why didn't anyone tell me it smells like Rosh Hashanah? This is an amazing fragrance.
I don't like ginger either in perfume, but I like it in this (even though it isn't formally listed in it!) I know I need a full bottle of this.

  8. EauMG! Bwaha! isn't it beautiful? Or maybe beautiful is the wrong word. Glittering. Fizzing. Happy. Delightful. Shiny. Something along those lines. :)

I'm so glad that you liked it. And I'll remember the Rosh Hashanah part. :)
