SOTD: Chanel Cristalle (Woohoo!)

Ha! I sprayed on Cristalle this morning, expecting that my nose would shrug.

Nope. It's fantastic. Green. Crisp. Sharp. That ambiguous no-season of shrugging at my perfume is over. The warm season is here. I declare celebration.

Review Roundup: Is here.

  1. It seems warm season is starting here as well. I'm celebrating with you! :)

  2. Wow! I wouldn't have gone near this based just on the name (I am strangely allergic to all bastardized spellings of the word "crystal.") And green is the last thing I'd expect from the House of Chanel. Buuuut... you've got me curious!

  3. Still cold here but I'm glad things are warming up for you :-) Cristalle is wonderful.

  4. Ines, I'm surprised that I'm so pleased, because I usually prefer winter scents. But cravings are cravings, so I am indeed pleased.

Oh, yes, LCN, Cristalle is a gorgeous crisp classic green. In fact, until Cuir de Russie, my two favorite Chanels were green - No. 19 and Cristalle. I'm not sure if Cristalle has been recently reformulated or not, so if you can get some that's a little bit old, it's better. Oh, and it's one of those that's fundamentally different in EDT versus EDP - the EDT is the "real" Cristalle.

My sympathies on the cold, lovethescents - unless, of course, you're enjoying it.

  5. (Oh, LCN, it's not bastardized, it's FWENCH!)

It's still cold here too, so I'm not longing for greens or florals (except tuberose, grin). And I blush to admit that I really do not care much for Cristalle, except that I think the drydown is just gorgeous. Unfortunately, that's only one hour per application that I love, so no Cristalle for me, more for you.

BTW, I hear that Cristalle has indeed been reformulated due to its citrus content. Fans are unhappy. I find the reformulation of No. 19 - which I DO love! - unsatisfactory as well.

  6. Hey, Mals! You don't like it?! But, yes, more for me. :) And I can see an aspect, especially now in barely-warm-enough weather, that could turn good or bad.

Reformulating it is Just Wrong. :( I need to find a newish tester to see if it's still worth recommending - though I don't know how to "read" the bottle to know if it's reformulated or not.

  7. Cristalle is probably my favorite of the mainstream Chanels (as I have recently fallen out of love with No 5). Fabulous stuff! I'm glad you are enjoying it so much :) I'm very sad to hear rumors of reformulation, I wonder if that's why they just introduced that new Cristalle Verte. Have you tried it? Is there any comparison? I've really enjoyed reading your blog!

  8. Hey, scentsofself! Welcome! And I'm glad you're enjoying the blog. :)

Cristalle Verte was meh when I tried it - I'd say no comparison. It's a perfectly decent fragrance, and if it had a different name I might actually be praising it. But it's nowhere near Cristalle's class, in my book, so I have a grudge against it for the name.
